Magellan Midstream Partners Senior Accountant Revenue in Tulsa, Oklahoma



This position primarily performs moderately complex revenue accounting and reporting assignments requiring alternative analysis, innovation and judgement. This position is responsible for managing contracts for the Crude business segment; including transportation and joint division agreements.

This accountant is expected to seek out opportunities to create value by streamlining processes, enhancing internal controls, and leveraging technology and resources to increase the quality of financial information reported. The successful candidate will be assertive and have a consistent sustainable work ethic.

We are seeking an individual with positive attitude, attention to detail, initiative and strong analytical skills to learn about various facets of the crude transportation business.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Manages and maintains existing revenue contracts as well as setting up new billing contracts for area of responsibility.

  • Prepares, examines, and analyzes accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.

  • Identifies and recommends resolutions to issues that impact the accuracy and completeness of accounting data.

  • Communicates and consults with Commercial, Legal, Financial reporting and external stakeholders.

  • Prepares reports for internal management related to revenue trend reporting.

  • Analyzes and reconciles general ledger accounts, makes adjusting entries to ensure accounts/balances are complete, correct and in compliance with GAAP.

  • Responds to internal and external customer inquiries regarding rates billed and inventory transactions.

  • Researches accounts receivable past due balances and contacts customers about past due invoices.


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.

  • At least three years of related work experience preferably in public accounting or related industry field is preferred.

  • Must have a strong work ethic, with initiative to work independently.

  • Must be an assertive, professional with high ethical and sound moral judgement.

  • Strong skills in Excel and Access are required.

  • Prefer candidates who are planning to acquire their CPA license.

  • Ability to plan and manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.

  • Oracle Financials and Hyperion Essbase experience is preferred.

  • QlikSense experience is preferred.

This position will be filled at a level commensurate with the candidate's education and experience.

Additional requirements: The ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English with co-workers, supervisors, internal and external customers; the ability to work in stressful conditions; the ability to adapt and respond in changing circumstances; the ability to use a personal computer with the Windows® operating system to complete time sheets, send and receive email, and access information posted on the Company’s intranet; availability as needed to work on both a scheduled and call-out basis; and the ability to work at the assigned job site.
